چکیده

1'HE data in the literature dealing with the permeability of the cornea give variable and dissimilar results both with regard to the irreciprocity of the.permeability and to the magnitude and quality of the necessary osmotic forces and to the rate of diffusion. The purpose of our experiments was to estimate these discrepancies using a different method, and to examine the points brought out above. Method:-Our experimental apparatus was similar to the chamber system described by Hamburger. The chambers were separated by the excised cornea. Various solutions were placed in the two chambers and the changes in volume, and in the chloride ion concentration were determined. The volume change was determined by capillary measurement, the chloride ion by a micro. method. (Diameter of capillary 08mm. 10 units of the capillary scale equalled 5c.mm.) The volume of each chamber was approximately 4c.cm. The solutions used were pig's blood diluted with Ringer's solution to various degrees. The air bubbles in each section were carefully displaced and liberated. The corneae were obtained with the aid of a slice made through the equator of the

Loratadine- Loaded Thermoresponsive Hydogel : Characterization and Ex-vivo Rabbit Cornea Permeability Studies

Poor bioavailability of ophthalmic drops is mainly due to drainage through the nasal-lacrimal duct and a very low permeability through corneal epithelium. The aim of our study was to prepare and characterize an ocular hydrogel of loratadine, as an example of a lipophilic drug, to increase drug concentration and residence time at the site of action in the eye. In this study,a 23full factorial de...

Determination of Permeability of Concrete to Chloride Ions by Rapid Test Procedures

Methods which can be used to assess the chloride permeability of various types of concrete in a relatively short time are described. An electrical potential from 60-80 volt DC is applied either between a chloride solution ponded on a slab surface and the top of rebar mat, or between two faces at a core taken from a structure. The amount of chloride and sum of the electrical current which passes...

An Experimental Study on Permeability Reduction Resulting from Mixed BaSO4, CaSO4, and SrSO4 Scale Deposition in Porous Media during Water Injection

Sulfate scale deposition (BaSO4, CaSO4, and SrSO4) is a common problem in oilfield operations around the world, which causes significant formation damage during production and injection activities. This paper presents the results of an experimental study on the permeability reduction of porous media due to sulfate scale deposition. A set of experiments were cond...

A new investigation on modeling of permeability reduction during CO2 flooding processes in sandstone oil reservoirs

Permeability reduction in oil reservoirs during primary oil recovery and using the enhanced oil recovery methods are complicated problem which most of the oil field in worlds has encountered. In this work, a modified model based on four phase black oil model (oil, water, gas, and asphaltene) was developed to account permeability reduction during CO2 flooding in cylindrical coordinates around a ...
